Conway Community News - Week 22

Create Your Rainbow Everyday

Week 22 - January 22nd, 2023

Greetings Conway Community,

Our week started with a beautiful double rainbow over Conway.  Mr. Williams captured this early Tuesday morning while leading our Safety Patrol students and knew it was going to be an EPIC week.

Our winter I-ready testing window opened last week.  Students began testing in reading and this week they will begin to test in math.  All students have set goals and we are looking to meet our schoolwide goal that 60% of students meet or exceed their personal growth goal in i-ready.  This nationally normed test determines typical growth and stretch growth for individual students.  I-ready reports went home with report cards at the end of Trimester 1 and each report identified those personalized goals.   The test will allow us to see their progress toward their individualized learning goals.  Save the date, Our Trimester 2 EPIC Award assemblies are set for March 10th.  Grade level times are coming soon.

Presentations of Learning continued at Conway this week.  Second grade students shared their learning of fossils at this special concert.  Students developed literacy and science skills as they engaged in an in depth exploration of fossils and learned how fossils tell a story of the earth’s changes.  Thank you Mrs. Banks, Mrs. Rico, and Mrs. Petrucelli for lifting up these beautiful voices by singing about the learning the did.

Last week I was invited to Mrs. Brumback’s 1st grade Presentation of Learning.  See the magnificent things these first graders created in response to a problem they identified.  This new signage will be added to our bathrooms.

Another magical place for joy and learning is our Discovery Lab in room 8.  This is a place where students can visit during lunch recess.  Students can play games, build, create, and discover new ways to be.  See some of our learners deeply engaged in creating, problem solving, and strategizing.

I am  grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion.  Together we are creating an EPIC school.  We are in this together and believe, We Are Crew, not passengers.

In Crew,

Principal Meglich
