Week 21 - January 15th, 2023
Students came back refreshed and ready for learning. We are excited for them to unleash their unlimited potential.
Our winter I-ready testing window is open now. All students in k - 6th grade will take the i-ready test again in reading and in math to measure growth. This adaptive test will measure student learning and it provides teachers and parents another measure of academic growth. All students have established goals this year. The test will allow us to see their progress toward their individualized learning goals. Right before trimester two ends, we plan to recognize all students that met or exceeded their goal at our grade level award assemblies.
Students will begin with their reading test beginning this week and then will move to math. Encourage your students to do their best, focus, and take their time. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to show what they know and see how much they have grown their brain so far this year. Students will also get to share their progress at our second round of Student Led Conference the week of February 21st, 2023. Details will be coming soon. And we look forward to celebrating their academic achievements on March 3rd, 2023 at our first Awards Assembly for this school year.
This week the Escondido Education Foundation surprised our very own teacher, CJ August as the Caring Hearts Award recipient. Ms. August is an intervention teacher and our art teacher at Conway. She supports our students that are reading below grade level but goes above and beyond to make connections with our most at risk students. She makes time in her day for daily check-ins. She often takes her lunch time to invite students into her classroom to create art, but most importantly, to provide students a space to feel safe, heard, and loved. Ms. August also supports our restorative practice structure known as Compassion Crew. This is a place we’re students visit when they’ve “lost” their compassion and she supports them in finding it. It’s also a place to receive compassion anytime a student just needs a hug or an ear to listen. Students are open to visit anytime during recess or lunch.

We look forward to EEF's Fall in Love with Escondido Schools Fundraising Event on February 10th where the recipient of this award will be celebrated. Congratulations, Ms. August!
This week 1st grade students in Mrs. Brumback’s class invited me to their Presentation of Learning to share their work from the Magnificent Things module. Students created the invitation and explained why it was important for me to attend. Stay tuned for more photos and what I learned from our 1st grade learners.
I am grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion. Together we are creating an EPIC school. We are in this together and believe, We Are Crew, not passengers.

Typically, students attend the schools that serve the neighborhood attendance areas in which they live. However, EUSD does provide attendance options for parents and students in order to help meet the diverse needs and interests of students within the district. Students may apply for a School Choice Intradistrict Transfer to any school in the district.

We are excited to announce that Conway Elementary School is offering additional after school enrichment or intervention clubs this winter.
Classes/Clubs begin the week of January 23rd.
