Conway Community News - Week 5

Parent Partnerships!

Week 5 - September 4th, 2022

Greetings Conway Families,

It was a great turn out at our Back To School Night this past week.  We value our families contributions and backgrounds and seek your active participation in the life of the school because we recognize that school and families are key partners in the education of our learners.  Our motto, We are crew, not passengers includes our families too.  Thank you all for your active participation.  As mentioned,  student names were drawn Friday from the attendance survey parents completed at our BTSN.  Those winners are: 6th grade, Ingrid, 5th grade Leah, 4th grade Holden, 3rd grade Marley, 2nd grade Phillip, and 1st grade Camilla.  If your student hasn’t picked up their prize, please send them to the office on Tuesday.

Our EPIC run is approaching but there is still time to support our students and our EPIC school.  Due to heat, the run/walk times have been adjusted and all students will run/walk before 10:45am.  Shade canopies, water stations, and cool spray will be set up for the event.   Students will be participating in the walk/run on Wednesday, 9/7/22.  All students will be provided an EPIC Run T-Shirt!  Students are to bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. The final contest for the class with the most points will occur after the run!

We definitely have a hard working Crew that shows their Crew spirit on Fridays.  Our students showed up this past week dressed for the job in honor of the upcoming Labor Day holiday on Monday.  There were teachers, fire fighters, scientists, professional athletes, nurses, baristas and so many more.  Next week, it’s Patriot Day so dress in your red, white, and blue.

Here is another remarkable accomplishment to share with our families.  Conway has been recognized for successful PBIS implementation at the PLATINUM level for the second year in a row. This comes from the California PBIS Coalition’s System of Recognition, reflecting excellence in the implementation of the core features of PBIS. Read more here.

Stay tuned for our next edition of the Conway Community Chronicle, August 2022 that keeps families informed of upcoming events.  And make sure to read the entire Weekly Communication.

Together we are creating an EPIC school.  We are grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion.

In crew,

Principal Meglich

Sadly our wonderful Mrs. Stencel will be leaving at the end of the month.  She will be moving closer to family in Arizona and fully understand that family is always first.  This leaves an opening at Conway.  If you are interested or know of someone that would like to join our Crew, please share the information and the link Apply here!

EPIC Awards

EPIC Active Citizens this month.

Each month teachers select one student that demonstrates excellence, perseverance, integrity, and compassion inside and outside of the classroom as an active citizen at Conway.  These students are recognized monthly at our weekly College and Crew Celebration on Thursdays at 8:00 am. Students are presented with a special EPIC bumper sticker to proudly display on their vehicle.  Classroom teachers notify families of this upcoming recognition and are invited to attend.
