August 20th, 2023

EUSD will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Hilary as it moves through our region. At this time, all school districts in the county, including Escondido Union School District, will be open tomorrow – Monday, August 21 – with the exception of San Diego Unified School District, which chose to postpone its scheduled first day of school until Tuesday.

EUSD will be operating all schools and programs as usual tomorrow, August 21. If there is any indication of a circumstance that would impact our normal school operations, we will notify you.

Creating a Community of Learners

As an expeditionary learning school, our model fosters and celebrates students’ character development by building a culture in which students and staff work together to become learners and ethical people who contribute to a better world.

Conway learners make the world a better place.

Recycling started on day one. Our learners take action to contribute to a better world while becoming global citizens. Even our youngest learners do their part by sorting and disposing of their recyclable materials and stacking their trays.

I am grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion. Together we are creating an EPIC school. Here is another example of our EPIC Crews.

Back to School Night at Conway will be on Thursday, August 24th from 5pm - 7pm. Join us to officially inaugurate our school as Conway Academy of Expeditionary Learning at our ribbon cutting ceremony in front of the school at 5 pm. The purpose of Back to School Night is to inform families of curriculum, school programs, schedules, and create a partnership between home and school. This is an adult only event, so please make arrangements for your student(s) as we will not have supervision on campus for students. TK and Kindergarten information was shared at our “TK/K Meet and Greet” evening event but families are welcome to meet support staff and hear the Principal’s Welcome in the MPR. Please be advised that parking will be a challenge and we ask that we are all good neighbors and park in the designated areas. Conway loves volunteers!

On Monday, August 21st, EUSD will launch the New EUSD Volunteer Application and Code of Conduct for families to submit in order to receive clearance to be a volunteer at our site or any of our 23 EUSD schools. If you are interested in volunteering, please visit the Volunteer at EUSD webpage for more information or visit our family engagement center in room 5.
