The Primacy of Self-Discovery

Week 30 - March 19th 2023

As an EL Education school, we are guided by ten design principles that are the building blocks of our educational model.   The Primacy of Self-Discovery is evident when learning happens best with emotion, challenge, and the requisite support. People discover their abilities, values, passions, and responsibilities in situations that offer adventure and the unexpected. At EL Education schools, students and adults undertake tasks that require perseverance, fitness, craftsmanship, imagination, self-discipline, and significant achievement.  This past week, students in fifth grade competed in the yearly STEM challenge event.  They were an example of how this principle lives in how they take on tasks while discovering their own potential and lifting each other up in the process.

Another example seen was in our parents that participated in our first ever, First-Aid Workshop.  Hawkins Sellier, provided hands-on opportunities for families to learn about life saving techniques.  It was joyful, engaging, and informative.  Thank you Mrs. Sellier for connecting us with your son and his expertise.

We were all seeing green this St. Patrick’s day around campus.  Students came decked out in their crew/Irish spirit and cultivated joy throughout the day.  Mrs. B certainly spread the luck of the Irish and brought smiles to all.

Pizza with the Principal was also celebrated this Friday.  This monthly event recognizes students for their hard work and EPIC behavior.  It is one of our incentive activities that lifts students up and brings joy to their learning.  During this monthly event, I have the opportunity to serve specially ordered pizza, just for them.  We play games, lately it’s been Pictionary, and they also recommend prizes they'd like to see added in the cougar store.  It’s always an EPIC event.

Another incentive that is coming to Conway is the return of the BMX assembly.  This is scheduled for March 29th at 9am.  Teachers will recommend students that have been aligning their behavior to our EPIC norms consistently and will be invited to the EPIC event.  We look forward to having 100% of our students attending.

Please read through the entire update.  The book fair is coming this week and so are spring pictures.  Mark your calendars, March 29th is a minimum day and the start of spring break.

I am  grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion.  Together we are creating an EPIC school.  Here is another example of our EPIC Crews.  Watch Mr. & Mrs. Farmer rock the EPIC rap!

We are in this together and believe, We Are Crew, not passengers.
