Conway Community News - Week 29

The past few weeks have focused on communicating student achievement.  We do it through traditional ways, like report cards and also in ways that allow students to take the lead in sharing their learning, like student led conferences.  This week we communicated achievement through our grade level EPIC awards, another form of celebrations of learning.

Our definition of student achievement combines academic achievement, character, and high-quality work.  As an Expeditionary Learning school, we believe that academic success is built on strong character qualities of collaboration, perseverance, responsibility, and compassion, and that character is shaped through engaging and challenging work.  Our EPIC Awards were designed to lift up those qualities and we were honored to recognize our students this week.  Thank you to all our families that joined us in this celebration.

The shoe fairy landed at Conway this week.  All participants of Girls on the Run have received a new pair of tennis shoes.  Each girl was fitted and those shoes were delivered this week.  Thank you to our dedicated teachers/coaches for making this happen for our students.

Our  FUN RUN fundraiser soccer goals have arrived.  Through that EPIC fundraiser, our ASB was able to purchase three sets of soccer goals for our fields.  There are designated goals for 1st and 2nd grade, 3rd and 4th grade, and 5th and 6th grade to play.  The joy these brought to our students was seen in their smiles and excitement to play.  Thank you again for supporting our EPIC school.

Finally, let’s help our W.H.O. crew in their efforts to help others.  SHARE THE WARMTH donation drive has been extended two more weeks! Drop off NEW donations of blankets, scarves, mittens, beanies, jackets, and socks to the WHO crew bin by March 22! And Remember… It Feels Good to Do Good!”

I am  grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion.  Together we are creating an EPIC school.  We are in this together and believe, We Are Crew, not passengers.

In Crew,

Principal Meglich

Week 29 - March 12th, 2023

It’s that time of year when the days are about to get longer – as in longer daylight hours! Yes, we spring forward this weekend. Daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 12.

Transitional Kindergarten Program

We are proud to offer a full-day Transitional Kindergarten program, which provides a bridge between preschool and kindergarten in a vibrant, nurturing, and supportive environment. This play-based program meets the needs of our very young students at their level, and it makes them excited about coming to school. TK serves children who do not meet the age eligibility for regular Kindergarten. With TK, 4-year-olds get a gift of classroom time that will help them build a strong foundation for success in school. TK students also are eligible to participate in EUSD’s after-school enrichment programs. Save a seat for your little learner now through the New Student Registration webpage! TK is offered at all 17 elementary schools in EUSD. Students who turn 5 between September 2, 2023, and June 2, 2024, are eligible for TK for the 2023-2024 school year. https://www.eusd.org/page/tk-k-special-education-preschool-new-student-registration-for-2023-2024
