Remarkable family engagement in our second round of Student-Led Conferences this week.
As an EL Education school, we strive to empowering our students to be leaders of their own learning. This begins in our kindergarten classrooms by setting expectations and protocols for developing effective speaking and building those skills as students move up in grades.
Kindergarten families experienced this firsthand on Wednesday when they heard their learners share their portfolios.
Families were treated to a singing welcome by our kindergarten classes. See here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yds4Z8oqTTvzpJSw1GNCZRMZLcK_oQ-Q/view?usp=drivesdk.
First grade students followed a similar model to kindergarten SLCs on Friday. Every single learner explained their progress and goals for this year. It was a packed event. Student-Led Conferences (SLC) are a critical part of the yearly routines and rituals that ALL students learn to lead.
Conway is the only school so far in EUSD that has implemented this practice twice during the school year. Our goal is to focus on connecting with families, identifying student’s current academic level, social and emotional needs, and goal setting for growth in all areas.
